Addies Tips: Cross
stitch is a fast and fun way to add some color and your own handmade
touch to baby's things. Once
you get a feel
for embellishing
with
cross stitch, you can play around with your own color selections, and
even combine two separate patterns into one.
You could, for
example, stitch a border onto a burp cloth and add baby's monogram
centered in the border.
Cross
Stitch patterns may be worked on traditional cross stitch count
fabrics, or directly onto cotton, linen, silk, or even pre-made
clothing. I
am told that the
patterns may also be adapted for use with an embroidery machine with certain
software.
When
adding a cross stitched design to a two sided item like burp
cloths and blankets, it works best if the pattern
is stitched on a separate larger piece of fabric, and then appliqued in
place and edged out in ribbon or rick-rack.
Thank
you for stopping by!
